ABOUTBrighton quartet School Disco release the striking new album School Disco ‘SDIV’ via Krautpop!.A brooding, hypnotic collection of tracks that capture the bands unique blend of prog, psychedelic rock and krautrock, the album captures the band's most expansive, ambitious and accomplished work to date. Building their reputation for their live high-octane live shows which have seen the band tour across the UK and Europe, the band's textural, experimental and musically rich sound shines bright across the 7 tracks.
Recorded at Farm Road Studios with engineering from Jake Smallwood alongside Rory Lethbridge himself, and mastered by Harry Hayes (School Disco, Roebucks) the upcoming EP showcases some of School Disco’s most inventive and complete work to date. Mostly tracked live, with minimal overdubs, allowing its raw intensity to shine through, the album captures the bands natural musical flow, drawing inspiration from the likes of Black Sabbath, CAN, as well as sci-fi and horror, ultimately finding the in a darker, more meditative territory while also drawing from a more tender personal place than previous records.
Drifting through its distant vocals, long psychedelic instrumental breaks and splashes of fuzz heavy guitar and dappled electronics, the album brings a colourful and ever moving sphere of sounds. As comparable to Meddle era Pink Floyd as it is to Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and King Crimson, the album highlights the sheer width of the band’s sound, and the restless creativity that drives them.
